Jesus managed to irritate many.

Jesus managed to irritate many.

The constant irritant was Jesus! Like most boys and young men, they usually manage to be constant irritants to those who care for them but Jesus was more of an irritant to those in high places… Even as an innocent baby, so irritated was King Herod by the thought of a baby growing up to someday become a ruler of Judah, that when he couldn’t locate the child, he took the drastic and murderous measure of slaughtering all the baby boys in the area under the age of two. An act which fulfilled the first of three prophecies foretold in the Old Testament regarding the early life of Jesus. The second foretold of Joseph bringing his wife and Son out of Egypt following the death of Herod. Joseph then took his family to Nazareth in Galilee, after having been warned in a dream not to go back to Judea. A decision which fulfilled a third prophecy which said that the Messiah would be called a Nazarene. Jesus therefore grew up in Nazareth and became a carpenter like his earthly father.

By obeying the dreamlike warnings from on high, Joseph managed to protect his wife Mary and His special Son so that he might grow up to minister and serve all God’s people… Beside these three predictions there were many prophecy’s foretold in the Old Testament about the coming of the Messiah, his mission in life and his death!
