Wreaths of Joy
Church News | Sunday, 1 December 2019 |
St Mary’s Church held its Christmas Fayre on 30th November plus a ‘Christmas Wreath Workshop’ and demonstration. Many packed the church to watch Margaret Pinkerton decorate a wreath with Christmas flowers, ribbons and greenery and showed us a lovely table decoration. Following the demonstration, we all got to work decorating our own wicker wreaths. In St Leonards hall stalls had been set up so that people could wander around and buy Christmas decorations and lights, hand knitted toys, books, cakes, etc., plus, those attending could relax with a cup of tea, coffee and a cake… We could also purchase raffle tickets for some amazing gift hampers. The raffle tickets will be on sale for a while and the draw will be held at the 5.30pm Village Carol Service on the 22nd December here in St Mary’s Church… We all look forward to that, I am sure! Revd Carolyn thanked Margaret Pinkerton for her very successful Christmas wreath workshop and offers grateful thanks to all the people who helped on stalls, sold raffle tickets, worked in the kitchen, set up the fayre and helped clear away. At this mornings service it was announced that well over £700 had been raised with quite a bit more expected to come in – Thank you to everyone who made St Mary’s Christmas Fayre and Workshop such a great success.
